Great Lakes Commercial Contracting Leadership Team
Mike Korczyk
Even as a small child, Mike was always a “hands on” kind of person. He always displayed a strong interest for how things worked, and how to fix them when they didn’t. Mike graduated from college with a degree in Backstage Design for theatre. While in college, he started his own company and has now been in business for over 20 years. During his time as a business owner, he started out doing carpentry and moved forward to General Contracting. His expertise lies in outlet buildings, retail, hospitality, and commercial buildings, and his biggest project included an $8,000,000 condo conversion in Chicago. Mike enjoys what he does and has always believed in growing a company with a team that will last for generations.
Ken Korczyk
Having graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2007 with a Bachelors in Culinary Nutrition, Ken always knew he would either be in the restaurant industry or in construction. Growing up, Ken has always been involved with projects around the house, whether it be putting up drywall with his mom, building something with his brother or just simply relocating a whole staircase in one piece!! He would also help in the kitchen for family events and holidays with his mom. While in school, Ken would assist his brother Mike's business during his time off. "There is a deep connection between culinary and construction," he says. During his time working in restaurants, he's been to Italy, worked as a sous chef in multiple restaurants, and has even consulted for a few restaurants in Scottsdale. Fast forward to now, Ken has been working for Great Lakes Commercial Contracting for the past 6 years fulfilling roles of foreman, project manager, and site superintendent.
Norman Nestler
Having received a BSCE from the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana in 1989, Norman obtained an EIT from the State of Illinois. His first job was a Project Manager at Jirsa Construction Company in 1989; they concentrated on commercial general contracting. Managing projects throughout Chicagoland and then further on to Wisconsin, Indiana and Western Pennsylvania, Norman eventually became the Vice President. He continued to work there until 2005 when he started his own General Contracting company. Over the years, he completed hundreds of projects ranging in size from $10,000 to $5,000,000. That company is still in existence and does projects throughout the Midwestern States. Norman started to work with Great Lakes Commercial Contracting in 2018 in order to expand the capabilities and exposure of both companies. Mike and Norm share resources and contacts to build a cohesive team that can handle all states of construction from initial planning to design build on to construction and project closeout.
